Summary
This study tested whether a mother's scent and a knitted octopus toy can reduce pain in newborns with birth asphyxia who are receiving therapeutic hypothermia. Forty-five full-term infants in the NICU were randomly assigned to receive these comforting items. Pain levels were measured using a standard newborn pain scale.
