Scientists infect healthy people to test new malaria pill
NCT ID NCT05979207
Summary
This study tested a new oral drug, MMV367, for malaria. Researchers gave healthy volunteers a small, controlled dose of malaria parasites and then gave them the drug to see how their bodies processed it and how well it fought the infection. The main goal was to understand the relationship between the drug's level in the blood and its effect on the parasites, not to cure participants, who all received standard malaria treatment at the end.
