Gut check: could your microbiome hold the key to preventing Alzheimer's?

NCT ID NCT07226674

First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at how natural plant compounds (flavonoids) from a Mediterranean-style diet are broken down by gut bacteria and whether these byproducts help protect memory and thinking in older adults. Researchers will measure changes in blood, stool, and cognitive test scores in 100 volunteers aged 50+ who have a family history of Alzheimer's. The goal is to understand the connection between diet, gut microbes, and brain health.
