Lung bath chemo trial aims to wipe out hidden sarcoma cells during surgery

NCT ID NCT02811523

First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a technique called in vivo lung perfusion (IVLP) that delivers chemotherapy directly into the lung during surgery to remove sarcoma tumors that have spread to the lungs. The goal is to kill any microscopic cancer cells left behind, which standard surgery alone often misses. About 17 people with sarcoma in both lungs will take part, and one lung will receive the treatment while the other serves as a comparison. The main focus is on safety and finding the best dose.
