Veterans' PTSD and opioid relapse: could a two-drug combo offer better relief?

NCT ID NCT04360681

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding lofexidine to the standard opioid-use treatment buprenorphine could improve symptoms of both PTSD and opioid use disorder in veterans. 84 veterans on a stable dose of buprenorphine were given either lofexidine or a placebo. The goal was to see if the combination reduced opioid use and PTSD symptoms more than buprenorphine alone.
