Summary
This study compares light versus deep general anesthesia in older adults (65+ or Indigenous 55+) having major surgery. The goal is to see if lighter anesthesia reduces delirium, cognitive decline, and disability. About 2,766 participants will be randomly assigned to one of two anesthesia levels using brain monitors. If effective, this simple approach could improve recovery and save healthcare costs worldwide.
