Summary
This study looks at whether closing a small sac in the heart (the left atrial appendage) during heart surgery can help prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation. About 1500 patients having planned heart surgery are taking part. The goal is to see if this simple procedure should become a standard part of heart operations.
