Doctors test how much washout it takes to clean infected knee replacements
NCT ID NCT07324954
Summary
This small pilot study aims to find out how much sterile fluid is needed to visibly clean out simulated contamination during surgery to treat infected knee replacements. Researchers will use a blue dye during surgery to act like germs and measure how much washing fluid it takes to make the blue color disappear. The goal is to gather information to help design a larger future study on the best washing techniques for these infections.
