Doctors test blue dye to find best washout for infected knee replacements

NCT ID NCT07324954

Summary

This small pilot study aims to find out how much sterile fluid is needed to visibly clean out contamination during surgery for an infected knee replacement. Researchers will use a safe blue dye during surgery to simulate germs and measure how much washing it takes for the dye to disappear. The goal is to gather basic information to help design a larger future study on the best cleaning technique for these infections.
