Tiny preemies, big questions: new study probes kidney health in heart defect
NCT ID NCT06658496
First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at oxygen levels in the kidneys of very premature babies (born before 32 weeks) who have a heart condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Researchers want to see how kidney oxygen relates to the severity of the PDA and whether it can predict kidney injury. About 45 babies will be monitored using ultrasound, urine tests, and special sensors. No new treatments are being tested—this is purely to gather information.
