Tiny preemies, big questions: new study probes kidney health in heart defect
NCT ID NCT06658496
First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at oxygen levels in the kidneys of very premature babies (born before 32 weeks) who have a common heart condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Researchers want to see if low kidney oxygen is linked to the severity of the PDA and to kidney injury. They will use ultrasound, urine tests, and a special monitor to track oxygen in the kidneys during the first week of life.
