Tiny hearts, tiny kidneys: new study monitors oxygen in preterm infants

NCT ID NCT06658496

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at oxygen levels in the kidneys of premature babies born before 32 weeks who have a heart condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Researchers want to see how kidney oxygen relates to the severity of the heart condition and whether it can predict kidney injury. About 45 babies will be monitored using ultrasound and special sensors during their first week of life.
