New pain block may cut opioid use after ACL surgery

NCT ID NCT05136352

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding an extra nerve block (iPACK) to the usual one can better control pain and reduce opioid use after ACL reconstruction. 90 adults having ACL surgery were randomly assigned to receive either the standard block alone or the standard plus iPACK block. The main goal was to see if the extra block lowered the amount of opioid pain medicine needed in the first 48 hours after surgery.
