New nerve block technique may cut opioid use after ACL surgery
NCT ID NCT05136352
First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding an extra nerve block (called iPACK) to the usual pain management during ACL knee surgery can lower the need for strong painkillers (opioids) after the operation. About 90 adults having ACL repair were randomly assigned to receive either the standard block alone or the standard block plus the iPACK block. The main goal was to see how much opioid medication they used in the first 48 hours after surgery.
