New scan could spot rare heart disease earlier

NCT ID NCT05758493

First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study is testing a new radioactive tracer called Iodine-124 evuzumitide to see if it can more accurately diagnose cardiac amyloidosis, a condition where abnormal proteins build up in the heart. About 150 adults with known or suspected amyloidosis will receive the tracer and undergo PET/MRI or PET/CT scans. The goal is to improve detection and understand how the disease affects different organs.
