Fasting for feelings: new study tests 16/8 diet on menopause mood

NCT ID NCT07481513

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at whether intermittent fasting (the 16/8 method, where you eat only during an 8-hour window each day) can help improve the mental health of women going through perimenopause. Researchers will split 140 women aged 45-55 into two groups: one that follows the fasting plan and one that doesn't. They'll measure changes in depression and anxiety symptoms after 3 months to see if fasting makes a difference.
