Simple breathing training may ease fibromyalgia pain and fatigue

NCT ID NCT07261696

First seen Dec 17, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether a simple breathing exercise (inspiratory muscle training) can improve symptoms like pain, fatigue, poor sleep, and anxiety in women with fibromyalgia. Researchers believe these exercises may help calm the nervous system, which is often overactive in fibromyalgia. Fifty-one women will be randomly assigned to real training, a sham version, or no training for six weeks. The goal is to see if this easy, low-effort approach can offer relief without the need for medication.
