Scientists map the Body's 'Immune Crash' after trauma and sepsis
NCT ID NCT02638779
Summary
This study aimed to understand and measure a period of immune system weakness that can happen after severe medical events like septic shock, major trauma, burns, or surgery. Researchers followed 552 adult patients and healthy volunteers, taking blood samples to track immune function over time. The goal was to find better ways to predict which patients are at high risk for secondary infections, potentially guiding their care.
