First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether applying hydrocortisone or lidocaine to the breathing tube can reduce sore throat, hoarseness, and coughing after thyroid or parathyroid surgery. About 764 adults will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two medicines on their tube. Researchers will check pain and voice changes right after surgery, at 24 hours, and at 3 days.
