Hospital methadone program aims to bridge gap to recovery after discharge

NCT ID NCT07568847

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether completing the methadone clinic intake process while still in the hospital helps people with opioid use disorder stay in treatment after discharge. Researchers will compare usual care (referral at discharge) to a hospital-based approach where staff help finish the intake before leaving. The goal is to reduce the high risk of relapse and overdose during the transition from hospital to community care.
