Virtual reality could ease the sting of HIV injections

NCT ID NCT06834113

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to reduce pain from HIV injections: changing the injection site (from the buttock to the hip area) and using a virtual reality headset during the shot. About 120 people with well-controlled HIV will try all four combinations of site and VR use. The goal is to find which method causes the least pain over the week after the injection.
