First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This trial tested a new device that uses focused sound waves (histotripsy) to break apart solid kidney tumors without any cuts or needles. Twenty adults with small, non-spreading kidney tumors were treated to see if the procedure was safe and could fully cover the tumor. The goal was to offer a non-invasive alternative to surgery for managing kidney cancer.
