New rehab approach aims to get seniors stronger, faster after hospital stays
NCT ID NCT05492240
Summary
This study tested whether a more intense physical therapy program helps older adults recover better after being discharged from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility. Researchers compared 16 facilities using the new high-intensity approach against 16 using standard care, involving over 4,300 patients. The goal was to see if stronger, more focused exercise could improve walking speed, strength, and reduce the chance of returning to the hospital.
