Heart test in elderly surgery patients may predict outcomes
NCT ID NCT03605134
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at whether measuring a heart enzyme called hsTnT in patients aged 75 and older before major surgery could help predict their recovery. Researchers tracked 63 patients to see if high enzyme levels were linked to longer hospital stays or death within 30 days. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
