New stem cell transplant could help kids with blood cancer avoid severe side effects
NCT ID NCT03431090
First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study is testing a new way to do stem cell transplants for children with blood cancers or bone marrow disorders. Instead of needing a perfectly matched donor, doctors use a partially matched family donor and remove certain immune cells from the donated cells to reduce the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a serious complication. The goal is to see if this approach helps the new cells grow faster and with fewer side effects. About 20 children will take part in this early-phase trial.
