New collagen gel shows promise for gum disease treatment

NCT ID NCT07592377

First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a collagen-based gel called H42 in 38 adults with advanced gum disease (periodontitis). The gel was placed into deep gum pockets after a standard deep cleaning. Researchers measured how much the pocket depth decreased over 12 weeks, along with other signs of gum health and safety. The goal was to see if the gel helps repair gum tissue and control the disease.
