Gut check: why cranberry juice works for some women but not others
NCT ID NCT05065008
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looks at why cranberry juice helps prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in some women but not others. Researchers think the answer lies in the gut microbiome—the bacteria living in our intestines. 160 healthy women who are prone to UTIs will drink cranberry juice or a placebo for three weeks, and scientists will measure changes in their urine and gut bacteria to find out who responds best.
