First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested a gum surgery that combines a connective tissue graft with a special protein gel (enamel matrix derivative) to help regrow bone and gum tissue in people with advanced gum disease. Seventeen adults with deep gum pockets received the treatment, and researchers measured improvements in bone fill, gum attachment, and tissue stability over six months. The goal was to see if this approach leads to better healing and gum appearance compared to the patient's starting condition.
