Summary
This study looked at whether ultrasound can help doctors know if a critically ill child's stomach is empty before removing their breathing tube. The goal was to understand how long it takes for food to leave the stomach in these children, since current fasting rules are based on healthy kids having surgery. The study was stopped early, but it aimed to improve safety by reducing the risk of vomiting and breathing in stomach contents.
