NCT ID NCT05181904

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at whether ultrasound can help doctors know if a child's stomach is empty before removing a breathing tube. Critically ill children often receive liquid food through a tube, and their digestion may be slower than usual. The goal was to see if current fasting rules are right for these children, to reduce the risk of vomiting and breathing in stomach contents.
