Gum disease clues found in a drop of fluid
NCT ID NCT07535177
First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at two proteins, Gas6 and sMerTK, in the fluid around teeth to see if they can help tell the difference between healthy gums, gingivitis, and serious gum disease (periodontitis). Researchers will collect samples from 90 adults—30 with healthy gums, 30 with gingivitis, and 30 with periodontitis—and measure these protein levels. The goal is to better understand how gum disease works, not to test a new treatment.
