Deep sleep or light nod? study probes best sedation for gallstone procedure

NCT ID NCT07205380

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at over 121,000 procedures to remove gallstones from the bile duct using a scope (ERCP). Researchers wanted to see if the level of sedation given during the procedure affected whether stones were left behind. They found that deeper sedation might help the doctor succeed the first time, reducing the need for a repeat procedure within a year.
