First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested whether a single dose of the antibiotic fosfomycin works as well as a 5-day course of levofloxacin to prevent infections and sepsis after a common kidney stone surgery called PCNL. 210 adults with kidney stones were randomly assigned to one of the two treatments or a control group. The goal was to see which approach better reduces post-surgery infectious complications.
