Pill-Pack poop transplant aims to fight superbugs in scarred livers

Summary
This trial is testing whether swallowing capsules containing processed stool from a healthy donor can help people with liver cirrhosis fight off serious infections and avoid hospital stays. About 300 participants with cirrhosis will be randomly assigned to take either these 'fecal microbiota transplant' (FMT) capsules or a placebo dummy pill every three months for up to 21 months. The main goal is to see if the FMT capsules can delay or prevent the first serious infection that requires a trip to the emergency room or a hospital admission over a two-year follow-up period.
