Can a tailored fluid plan reduce organ damage in septic shock?

NCT ID NCT03461900

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested whether a personalized approach to giving fluids, using small 'mini-fluid challenges' to guide decisions, could reduce organ failure in people with septic shock. Over 500 ICU patients took part. The goal was to avoid both too little and too much fluid, which can harm organs. The results may help doctors better manage fluid balance in critically ill patients.
