Finger sensor could protect frail ICU patients from devastating skin failure
NCT ID NCT07367113
Summary
This study is testing if using a simple finger sensor to guide how much IV fluid a patient gets can help prevent severe skin breakdown in elderly, critically ill patients. Researchers will compare this sensor-guided approach to standard care in 216 older ICU patients with conditions like sepsis. The main goal is to see if this method reduces the risk of acute skin failure, a painful and dangerous complication.
