Finger clip could save elderly ICU patients from devastating skin failure
NCT ID NCT07367113
Summary
This study is testing if using a simple finger sensor to guide fluid treatment can prevent severe skin breakdown in elderly, critically ill patients. Researchers are comparing this sensor-guided approach to standard care in 216 older ICU patients with severe infections or shock. The main goal is to see if this method reduces the risk of acute skin failure, a painful and dangerous complication.
