FitBit and apps may keep cancer surgery patients out of the hospital

Summary

This study tests whether using a FitBit and mobile health apps can help people who have had surgery for cancers of the stomach, liver, pancreas, colon, or small intestine avoid being readmitted to the hospital. About 107 adults who own a smartphone and are scheduled for surgery will be randomly assigned to use the devices or receive usual care. The goal is to see if the technology improves recovery and reduces healthcare costs.
