Summary

This small pilot study tested whether taking a daily prebiotic fiber supplement for 12 weeks could improve memory, mood, and gut bacteria in healthy older adults. Fifty participants aged 60-75 were randomly assigned to take either the fiber blend or a placebo powder. Researchers measured changes in thinking skills, anxiety and depression symptoms, and the diversity of gut microbes before and after the 12-week period.
