Could a monthly fasting diet boost brain blood flow and lower Alzheimer's risk?

NCT ID NCT06682767

First seen Feb 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special 5-day fasting-mimicking diet each month for 6 months is safe and can improve blood flow to the brain in 40 middle-aged adults (45-65) who carry the APOE4 gene, which raises Alzheimer's risk. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the fasting-mimicking diet or standard dietary guidance. The goal is to see if this diet can help protect the brain and support healthy aging.
