First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looks at how often children develop low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when they fast before surgery. Fasting is required to keep kids safe during anesthesia, but it may cause blood sugar drops, especially in younger children. Researchers will monitor over 6,500 children aged 1 month to 18 years to find a clear definition of hypoglycemia and identify who is most at risk.
