First seen Nov 15, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a new scoring system called ExPreS to help doctors decide when to remove breathing tubes from patients in intensive care. Over 500 adults on ventilators for more than 24 hours took part. The goal was to see if ExPreS could predict successful removal better than current methods, reducing the need to reinsert the tube.
