New injection could ease migraine pain for days
NCT ID NCT04930887
First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether injecting a long-lasting numbing medicine (Exparel) near a nerve bundle in the nose can reduce severe face and head pain from conditions like migraine and cluster headache. About 15 adults who already get relief from a numbing spray will receive either the injection or a placebo, then switch groups. The goal is to see if this simple procedure can provide days of pain relief with fewer side effects.
