AI-Powered blood test could spot 5 cancers before symptoms start

NCT ID NCT07186296

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 39 times

Summary

This study is testing a new blood test called EXoPred that uses artificial intelligence and a laser technique called Raman spectroscopy to find signs of five different cancers (breast, colon, pancreatic, ovarian, and lung) at an early stage. Researchers will collect blood samples from 1,400 people aged 45 and older who have or are suspected to have one of these cancers. The goal is to train and validate the AI algorithm so it can accurately detect cancer and identify where in the body it started.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors find several types of cancer early, when they may be easier to treat.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study focused on developing and validating the test's algorithm. It is not yet proven to work in real-world settings, and the test may not be accurate enough for widespread use.

Conditions

The condition(s) this trial relates to.

breast cancer breast neoplasm colon carcinoma colonic neoplasm colorectal cancer lung cancer lung neoplasm malignant pancreatic neoplasm neoplasm ovarian cancer pancreatic neoplasm
