Hand exercises may reduce nerve stiffness in carpal tunnel patients
NCT ID NCT07281573
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether specific hand and wrist exercises could help people with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. 91 participants did either nerve gliding exercises or strengthening exercises daily for three weeks. The results suggest these exercises may reduce stiffness in the median nerve, which could lead to symptom relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- nerve and tendon gliding exercises and strength exercises
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to ease symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early study with only 91 participants. The results are preliminary and may not apply to everyone. More research is needed to confirm the benefits.
