First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether empagliflozin, a drug originally for diabetes, can improve heart function in 80 older adults with high blood pressure and obesity who are at risk for heart failure. Participants will take either the drug or a placebo daily for 9 months. The goal is to see if the drug helps the heart's left atrium work better, potentially preventing future heart problems.
