Breast cancer breakthrough: Surgery-Free future for some women?

NCT ID NCT06498154

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether women with certain aggressive breast cancers (triple negative or HER2-positive) can safely avoid breast surgery if their tumors disappear completely after a combination of chemotherapy and radiation. About 200 participants will receive the non-surgical treatment and be followed for 5 years to see if the cancer stays away. The goal is to preserve the breast without increasing the risk of cancer returning.
