Timing is everything: new study seeks best moment to give heparin after brain hemorrhage
NCT ID NCT06753786
First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at 200 people with high-blood-pressure-related brain bleeding to find the best time to start blood thinners (heparin) to prevent dangerous clots in the legs or lungs. Participants get heparin either within 2 days (but not before 12 hours) or starting on day 3 after hospital admission. The goal is to balance preventing clots with avoiding more bleeding in the brain or body.
