Ear seeds and patches: a new combo to beat nicotine cravings in mental health wards

NCT ID NCT07466875

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding ear acupressure (small seeds taped to ear points) to standard nicotine patches can better reduce cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and anxiety in psychiatric patients who must stop smoking while in the hospital. About 60 adults aged 18-65 will be randomly assigned to get either real or fake ear seeds for 4 weeks. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost technique makes quitting more comfortable.
