Can a PET scan and blood thinner prevent silent heart attacks?
NCT ID NCT02110303
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at 220 people with coronary artery disease to see if a blood thinner called ticagrelor could reduce signs of heart muscle injury. Participants had a special PET scan to find high-risk plaques that might rupture without causing symptoms. The goal was to see if ticagrelor could lower troponin levels, a marker of heart damage, and potentially prevent future heart attacks.
