First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a blood thinner called ticagrelor can reduce heart attack risk in people with high-risk fatty plaques in their heart arteries. Researchers used a special PET scan to find patients with recently ruptured plaques that hadn't caused symptoms. The goal was to see if ticagrelor could lower levels of a heart damage marker in the blood. The study included 220 adults with multiple blocked heart arteries.
